Chorlton Arts Festival

Every year the Chorlton community hosts an amazing two week multi-arts festival, featuring musical performances, comedy, theatre and visual arts.

I always have a great time shooting for Chorlton Arts Fest and this year was no different. I got the chance to photograph some incredible acts for the festival – Heath Common & The Thin Man, The Candle Thieves, Misty’s Big Adventure, The Jeffrey Lewis & Peter Stampfel Band, Viv Albertine, Pins and Toy – in some beautiful venues, and met lots of lovely people in the process.

The Candle Thieves gig was probably the highlight for me as it was their swansong, their last gig together as a band. By the end of the night there was barely a dry eye in the house and it was a real privilege to capture such a special performance.

Toy at St Clements Church was a fantastic gig but had some of the most challenging lighting I’ve ever had to work with as a photographer. However, with perseverance a bit of creative thinking I ended up with some great shots, some my favourite of the whole festival.

So, here are a selection of my personal favs. If you’d like to see my full set from Chorlton Arts Festival, you can view them on my Flickr site
